Synopsis.
Set in 1990s Qingdao, the story follows 10 years of companionship between Chen Yiduo, Bi Laifu who’s been staying at her house and their group of friends.
When Chen Yiduo (Lin Yun) was seven years old, an old comrade-in-arms of her father’s left his son Bi Laifu (Gao Zhiting) with their family in hopes that he can receive a better education. Living in Chen Yiduo’s house, Laifu grows up with their group of friends at the factory compound.
Yiduo doesn’t do well in her college entrance exams and fails to get into university. She then starts working at the bicycle factory where her father works. In order to lessen the burden on his adoptive parents, Lai Fu also chooses to work. The children from yonder days go their separate ways as Laifu and Yiduo begin to face the challenges of life.
The automobile industry develops rapidly in 1998 causing the old bicycle factories to decline. Laifu considers the bicycle factory to be a memory that encompasses many generations, which is why he contracts an assembly workshop and finds investors to refurbish the production line. These friends who grew up together gather again to start a new business, using their ideas to make the old “Flying” bicycle factory young again.
