Modern dramas are starting to become my favorite nowadays. I try to balance between modern and historical dramas whenever I write reviews to cater for everyone and it seems like the trick is turning me into a fan of modern dramas. Today let’s review “Remember Me” starring Crystal Yuan and Tong Meng Shi. This drama is available on YouTube under YOYO TV channel.
First Impressions.
I didn’t know anything about the drama until YouTube recommended it to me. First episode had a lot to tell and it seemed like they still have more to tell. Only one episode already tells you the different plots in the drama from Boss and Employee love story, CEO with Amnesia, Favorite son Vs Step brother and more. My only focus was on Crystal Yuan because I never saw her in a modern drama before but then I started paying attention to everyone in the drama. Although it is the first episode, I just hope the drama doesn’t disappoint along the way.
Overall.
This is originally about a president with amnesia and his ex-girlfriend(Tan Ke’er) who happens to be his assistant. He doesn’t remember her and he starts to develop feelings for her again. This leads to a love triangle because Hu Bin’s step brother is also in love with Tang Ke’er who has been his best friend for years.
Hu Bin may be the president but his step brother is also aiming to inherit the company because it originally belonged to his late father. Hu Bin silently slacks at work to help his step brother to inherit the company but Hu Bin’s father (chairman) doesn’t want Hu Bin’s step brother to take over the company. This is a great plot and it reminds me of “Parallel Love” because two brothers (from different fathers) were fighting for the company plus a girl was also involved. There’s also a secret identity involved with Hu Jing, who is a quite girl but she seems to be connected to the two brothers.
Unfortunately I started to lose interest in this drama and dropped it because of the following reasons:
1. Dragging.
33 Episodes is long for a drama with a storyline like this one. They beat around the bush a lot just to continue the same plot again in the next two episodes! I tried to bear with the dragging just to finish the drama but I had enough of seeing the same thing in 5 episodes.
2. Storyline.
In the beginning, the storyline was good but they ruined everything as the drama continued, they made Tang Ke’er look like she’s smarter than anyone while she’s just an assistant ( I’m not understanding women’s intelligence), her being able to put out every fire in the company just sends out the wrong message that both Huo Bin and his brother won’t keep the company running without Tang Ke’er. Besides Ke’er, the storyline doesn’t add up… it has loopholes and it looked as if the writers were doing a “last minute” change to the storyline. They also tried to be mysterious about the kidnapping but UH UH! They failed to hold on to the mystery route, BIG TIME! If their mystery route was well paved, I wouldn’t be typing a negative review about the drama. The main purpose of being mysterious is to get people curious instead of boring them to death going back and forth with unnecessary plot switch.
I understand that this drama’s main focus is on the main leads but, don’t we deserve a little insight on how those streamers got where they are? Characters just pitch out of nowhere and boom!!! she’s a streamer. I believe this drama would have been better if it had 24 episodes instead of 33 because they’re many unnecessary scenes.
Conclusion.
Although I dropped the drama on episode 20, It feels like I watched 40 episodes. I’ll just keep this brief… I wouldn’t recommend you to watch this drama even if you’re bored, it’s just a time waster. The cast was good but what’s the using of having great cast on a bad drama like this one? I always prefer to write positive reviews instead of negative ones but it is what it is!
