General’s Lady review| Chinese drama world

One of the most watched category in terms of historical chinese dramas is ‘ heartless male lead’ or ‘Icy general and Witty lady’. Who can say they never enjoyed a drama where the male lead start out as a heartless person?

This is a review on a 2020 Chinese drama General’s Lady which features Caesar Wu and Tang Min.

There is a lot one can say about the drama and for starters let’s look at the number of episodes the drama has. General’s Lady has 30 episodes which actually makes it impossible for you to hate it. We are living in a time where people no longer find dramas with over 50 episodes interesting. Did you know that people stop watching most dramas because they have many episodes? Have you ever stopped watching a drama because it has many episodes?

Secondly let’s talk about the choreography in the drama. The drama doesn’t have many fighting scenes but it kept entertaining us which makes it one of the few dramas to do that because most Chinese dramas (historical in most cases) depends on fight scenes to entertain us. Even with few fight scene, the mood of the drama lightens up whenever Chu Xuming is fighting.

Laughter is good for one’s health and General’s Lady indeed nursed our health with comedy as one of their themes. It’s all laughter from the first scene in the first episode till the last episode. When Jin’er shows up in a scene you already know that something crazy is about to happen.

One thing that was disappointing was the story behind the incident in the eighth prince’s mansion. The story wasn’t necessary and I actually feel like General’s Lady would still have had the same impact as it did.
